In condizioni economiche rilevanti, Bitcoin si comporta similmente all’oro.
In calo CDU, dato a -18%, SPD, dato a -9% e così verdi e sinistra.
While the world burns, and some food for thought on various world news
If the morning is a good indicator of the day, what will this fall 2026 look like?
Tech. Could AI be better leveraged for growth? So far, AI has mostly been a generator of information to be used and shouldn’t be taken for mere entertainment based on algorithms. Intelligence is a bit like forces: you can’t see them, but they know you and act once they’ve tailored a suit for you. Taming AI requires a transversal and far-sighted culture, not just digital. AI is an aid, not a golden compass, and Pope Prevost clearly understood this before many others. The watchwords: rethink, protect, and promote with conscience.
A struggling economy should not be confused with a total collapse. Unless it’s intentional, where something new and distinct can be built upon it. It could simply be a prolonged cyclical phase. Above all, keep in mind that if you have a large debt, and industrialized countries can afford it, you won’t repay it. It refinances itself through interest. This is reflected in Treasury bonds. If interest is below the growth rate, then the debt is repayable. Indeed, if the economy grows, it can afford some debt, partially amortizing its costs. Those who don’t grow, however, are in the grip of debt and mostly interest.
The correlation between gold and Bitcoin is becoming increasingly marked in their stock market trends. Both are scarce, divisible, usable assets which don’t always require an intermediary. In significant economic conditions, Bitcoin behaves similarly to gold. The more inflation accelerates, the more complicated things become for central banks, and the more these assets are increasingly sought by wait-and-see investors. Modern Portfolio Theory predicts that investors no longer feel risk one asset at a time, but at the portfolio level. This isn’t a diversified portfolio with multiple assets, but a mix where the components behave differently to hold firm and achieve greater resilience. The world may be multi-regional, but global financial effects are less so
More news from around the world this last week.
Protests in Spain (Ceuta) with a recent confrontation between the extremist group Nucleo Nacional and law enforcement.
About 2,500 km to the northeast, in Finland, over 2,000 people took part in civil defense exercises following alleged cyberattacks. This represents the largest civil defense participation since World War II.
Still to the east, in the Balkans, the VLEN coalition, close to the Kosovo movement, is fueling tensions in Tirana. In early September, dozens of Instagram accounts belonging to opposition figures, journalists, and activists who were documenting the protests against Rama were suddenly restricted or deactivated. Meta is citing a deactivation error, but despite the reinstatements, many “shadow bans” remain. The protests have lasted more than 90 days.
Meanwhile, India and Russia have agreed to use rupees and rubles for 96% of their trade (the slow de- dollarization of the world currency). The output (PPP) of the enlarged BRICS exceeds that of the G7, although lower in nominal terms: BRICS GDP 35% vs. G7 GDP 30%. Nominal GDP, however, shows the G7 at 44%, while the BRICS drops to 30%. On September 1, the 10-nation meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization took place in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. In an unstable world, according to the Chinese president, the group represents a bastion of stability.
Relations between Germany and Russia have reached an all-time low in recent history.
Meanwhile, after an unprecedented collapse for traditional German parties, the AfD triumphs in the regional elections in Saxony-Anhalt with over 44% of the vote. The CDU, down 18%, the SPD, down 9%, and the Greens and the left are declining. However, it may lack an absolute majority to govern the local state.
Torn apart by the genocide that began in 2023 and abandoned by many organizations, Sudan is responding. It is responding through mutual aid projects. Local communities are organizing themselves through neighborhoods: food, care, money, or simply reaching places inaccessible to UN agencies. The report was released by Decolonize Sudan and ‘Noir United’ International, which have promoted humanitarian and development initiatives.
The Netherlands is moving 86 tons of its gold (worth approximately $12 billion) from Canada and the US due to geopolitical unrest. Therefore, trust is good, but distrust seems wiser.
USA: A new spree trailing 40 bizarre posts by the president in eight hours has begun on Truth Social. Strategy or symptoms of cognitive decline?
The post-summer recovery of 2026 still allows us to glimpse a world divided into corners under the influence of empires and conflicts, paralyzing, reducing, or slowing down some of the good things that were created in the post-war period. Never underestimate the power of denial in the collective psychology. On the other hand, interesting new scenarios are opening, and hopefully, something positive lies around the corner. However, we still have struggles and conflicts that undermine constructive dialogue. Extremism, and enemies (sometimes nonexistent) on which to unleash anger, injustice, empty promises, and symptoms of various madness. The economy and inequalities show more signs of extraction (mercantilist castes) than inclusion (democracy). The society of appearances is what it is: rather narrow-minded. A worrying chapter closes with an ecology that is crumbling under global warming, and which some still deny, despite the scientific data. Some people are making peace with it all, others sigh, and still others are reciting a serenity prayer.
